What to consider when creating a corporate video

  • Multipurpose.
  • Design it so it can be shown to your customers; web commercials, youtube and other social networking sites.
  • Target audience. Think demographics: Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Age.
  • Make sure you have an interesting concept.
  • Research - Other corporate promo videos. Research should help develop ideas and provide inspiration.
  • Be realistic. Especially when having a small budget; set targets.
  • The length of your video is important. Make sure you get your point across. Most promos aren't longer than 10 minutes and usually last about 5 minutes or so. Keep it short and sweet.
  • Well thought out script; serve it's purpose. Must be accurate and up to date information.
  • Consider what questions you'll use when interviewing people.
  • Casting the right company spoke person; practice screen tests. See how comfortable the subject is in front of the camera.
  • Be responsive to requests: include logos, photos, products, broachers etc.
  • If you're shooting in HD check that it's suitable for the piece your doing. May reveal what doesn't need seeing.
